It’s known for its beaches, resorts and golfing. Its terrain has rainforests, savannahs and highlands, including Pico Duarte, the Caribbean’s tallest mountain. A must do on the list while visiting is going to Damajaqua Cascades or better known as 27 Waterfalls. Your tour of the area will include climbing, cliff jumping & sliding down natural water slides while canyoning through this beautiful paradise. Oh & don’t forget to take a stroll on Bavaro Beach, the most beautiful pristine beach with white sand, blue water & thousands of Palm trees.
You can visit Panama practically any time of the year and experience temperatures between 73 degrees and 95 degrees. Not to mention visiting this paradise you can do very cheaply! Everything from hotel, food and even beer is cheaper than what it is in the U.S. Some of the activities you can experience during your stay include rainforest tours, surfing, snorkeling, diving, hiking, camping, river rafting, zipline tours, fishing, kayaking, observing wildlife or just enjoy relaxing on the beaches. One of the gems that I’ve grown fond of is Bocas del Toro it’s truly a hidden paradise within Panama. If Panama isn’t on your bucket list of places to stay it should be!
Thailand is a beautiful kingdom, with Buddhist temples, exotic wildlife, and amazing islands. Thailand weather is usually hot and humid across most of the country throughout most of the year. If you’re looking for an escape that won’t break the bank Thailand is for you! Nearly every imaginable activity can be arranged during your getaway, from exploring Phuket on a longtail boat tour to volunteering at the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai.
Bali is an Indonesian island known for its forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, beaches and coral reefs. This stunning island is also known for its yoga and meditation retreats. In fact, with so many affordable adventures, the only hard work in Bali is deciding what to do next. Canyoning GitGit waterfalls is an example of a once in a lifetime experience for a very cheap price. A beautiful paradise with an affordable budget, count us in!
Colombia is a country at the northern tip of South America. It’s landscape is marked by rainforests, Andes mountains and numerous coffee plantations. While many know the country as a tropical paradise it also has varied climate zones (rainforest, savanna, steppe, desert, mountain climate) Colombia’s temperatures vary based on elevations and rainfall. Try to book your stay during one of the festivals to really soak in the culture of the country. If there’s one thing Colombia has always been famous for it’s the amazing freshly ground coffee. So why not take a load off and enjoy the fresh brew in this beautiful retreat…
Argentina is a South American nation with terrain that boasts the Andes mountains, glacial lakes and Pampas grassland (the grazing land of its famed beef cattle). Satisfy your craving for a big juicy steak isn’t hard to do here! Argentina has perfected grilling… Parrillas (steak restaurants) are practically everywhere and they offer every cut you can imagine. After catching a bite to eat why not try your hand at some Tango? Tango is possibly Argentina’s greatest contribution to the world, an intimate dance that’s been described as ‘making love in the vertical position.’ So where better to learn this steamy dance but in the heart of where it was created. Don’t forget to go exploring to places like Iguazu falls & Los Glaciares National Park. Argentina has a bit of everything for everyone, who could pass this destination up for a getaway!
Cuba is a Caribbean island. It has sugar white beaches and tobacco fields, which play a huge role in the production of the country’s legendary cigars. If you’re a cigar aficionado, your bucket list has to include buying a Cuban cigar in Havana. Not to mention you will feel like you’re taking a trip to the past since Havana’s streets are lined with pastel houses & 1950s era cars. Put simply, Havana is a cigar shopper’s paradise. If cigars aren’t your breath of fresh air try taking in the sunset at El Morro. El Morro is a 16th century fortress & on the eastern end of the Malecon is the Morro Castle, just behind its lighthouse, is a quiet spot where you can catch breathtaking sunsets.
Portugal is a southern European country on the Iberian Peninsula, bordering Spain. Portugal is mainly a warm temperate, mediterranean climate with a distinct wet season in winter. Its place on the Atlantic Ocean has influenced many parts of its culture. The Douro Valley in northern Portugal is a World Heritage Site shaped by 2,000 years of wine production. It has the vineyards that Portugal’s signature spirit, a fortified wine known as port, is produced. To see the vineyards, drive along the Douro River, it is a drive you won’t want to skip.
Mexico is known for its Pacific and Gulf of Mexico beaches and its diverse landscape of mountains, deserts and jungles. Ancient ruins such as Teotihuacán and the Mayan city of Chichén Itzá are all throughout the country, as are Spanish colonial era towns. Mexico is home to the third largest pyramid in the world, the Pyramid of the Sun and it is right outside of Mexico City. Visiting today is still very much a journey of discovery into an extraordinary past, and an experience not to be forgotten about! You also won’t want to miss Playa Del Carmen beach where the white sand sets against the teal water of the Caribbean Sea. You can soak in the sun snorkeling, parasailing, diving, being lazy on the beautiful beach as well as many other water activities & at night catch the blue parrot bar’s dancers & twirlers put on a fire show in the downtown area.
Okay is this real or am I just dreaming? Isla de Margarita provides Caribbean style beaches and access to windsurfing, golf, horseback riding and scuba with a laid-back South American vibe. Not to mention everything here is extremely cheap compared to the U.S. Be careful visiting here though because you may end up on a beach drinking a cold one & never want to leave!
